Yard sales, music, other activites mark Fairfield Homecoming this weekend

Tuesday, June 19, 2012, 3:30 p.m. — The National Weather Service is predicted warm, clear weather for this weekend’s Fairfield Homecoming taking place Saturday and Sunday in Nelson County’s smallest incorporated city.
Saturday’s events include yard sales all over town; historical displays in the Fairfield City Hall and the Old Jail; a reunion of former St. Michael School graduates; a ready by Judith C. Owens-Lalude from her book, “The Long Walk: From Slavery to Freedom”; and entertainment featuring the Kentucky Home Cloggers; music by the On the Edge band on the City Hall lawn (bring your chairs and blankets).
On Sunday, the schedule includes historical exhibits; a church program on the City Hall lawn at 1 p.m. featuring the Little Union, Second Baptist and St. Michael choirs; the Whiskey City Cruisers car show in the City Hall parking lot; and gospel music from 2-5 p.m. at the City Hall lawn featuring the Fairfield Second Baptist Youth Groups, the “Angels of Praise” dance team, Youth Choir and Children’s Choir, the Bentleys & Crew from Bloomfield, and Blessed, which is Ward & Diane Davis from Plum Creek.
Food will be available both days cooked and served by members of the Fairfield Cemetery Committee.
