Firefighters respond to active fire alarms Friday morning

Friday, June 29, 2012, 11 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to two fire alarm calls Friday morning just minutes apart. Neither alarm was triggered by an actual fire.

At 9:53 Friday morning, firefighters were called to an active fire alarm at the Old Talbott Tavern, 107 W. Stephen Foster Ave. By the time the incident commander arrived, the alarm had reset and there was no indicator of why the alarm sounded. The business will have the alarm checked by the alarm company.

At 9:57 a.m., the fire department was called to Bardstown Elementary School, 420 N. Fifth St., for an active alarm. A representative of the school called while firefighters were responding to report that a lightbulb had been dropped and broken in the gym, which triggered the alarm.
