Beulah Parrott Barlow, 93, Bardstown
Beulah Parrott Barlow, 93, of Bardstown, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Botland, farmed in the Woodlawn community, and devoted her life to being a full time homemaker. She loved her church and taught Sunday school class until the age of 90. She sang in the church choir, played piano, was active in the missionary society, and was a member of the Nelson County (Humphrey) Homemakers Club. In 1956, the Nelson County Homemakers Club recognized her as the “Master Farm Homemaker” and “Homemaker of the Year” in 1987. She served the community by working the election polls for 50 years. She enjoyed participating in the Nelson County Fair by submitting entries which have awarded her many blue ribbons over the past 50 years. She was the oldest member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Manuel T. Barlow; parents, E.M. and Dora Kays Parrott; and five brothers, Irvine, Stanley, Russell, Othar, and Ed Parrott.
She is survived by five children, Lunette Dearen and her husband Joe Dearen of Louisville, Barbara Hughes, and Lellan Barlow Sr. and his wife Ruth Barlow of Bardstown, Wanda Amos and her husband Henry Amos of Athens, Ga., and Norma Haynes and her husband Tony Haynes of Gainesville, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Ruth Dearen Salley, Doug Dearen, Sandra Dearen Miller, Cindy Dearen Angel, Deloris Hughes Farmer, Deborah Hughes Filiatreau, Donald Hughes, Delisa Hughes Hardin, Lellan S. Barlow Jr., Stephen Amos, Dawn Amos Smrekar, and Molly Haynes Hazle; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Hitt will officiate.
Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Monday and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
