Robert Cecil Summitt Jr., 58, Cox’s Creek

Robert Cecil Summitt Jr., 58, of Cox’s Creek, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his home. He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of General Electric and a member of the Blooomfield Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and UK fan.

He was the son of the late Robert Cecil Summitt Sr. and Emma Jean Lewis Summitt. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Summitt and Janet Gies; and one brother, Gary Summitt.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Roberts Summitt; one daughter, Michelle Lee Reynolds of Bloomfield; two sons, Robert Cecil “Robbie” Summitt III of Bloomfield; and James Michael Summitt and his wife Tonya Summitt of Taylorsville; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Risinger and her husband, Brandon Risinger of Bardstown; three sisters, Connie Hurst and her husband Tony Hurst of Cox’s Creek, Kathy Richardson and her husband Mike Richardson of Chaplin, Debbie Bentley and her husband Wayne Bentley of Shelbyville; two brothers, Joe Summitt and Melissa Summitt of Bloomfield, and Ray Summitt of Taylorsville; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Brother Richard Carwile officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grover Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
