Bardstown firefighters called for garbage truck fire at county landfill

Tuesday, July 10, 2012, 12:55 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the Nelson County Landfill for a report of a garbage truck on fire by the entrance gate. The call to firefighters went out at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters put the fire out but stayed at the scene until they could empty the compactor portion of the truck to insure none of the garbage was on fire. The truck’s hydraulics suffered damage in the blaze. The garbage was emptied from the truck and extinguished. Firefighters left the scene at 2:20 p.m.
