Judge Robert W. ‘Bob’ Heaton, 65, Bardstown
Judge Robert W. “Bob” Heaton, 65, of Bardstown, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Louisville/ He was a graduate of St. Louis University, and UK Law School. He was a Nelson County District Judge, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, President of District Judges of Kentucky and a member of Judicial Review Board. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a board member of Nelson County Association For the Handicapped and an advisory board member of Tom McKay Center. He was past-president of Bardstown Kiwanis Club and My Old Kentucky Home Country Club. He was the Bardstown City Attorney for 19 years. He was member of St. Joe Prep Alumni, and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and UK sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Mary Jo “Jody” Heaton.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Heaton; one son, Rob Heaton; one daughter, Carrie Heaton; one brother, Richard “Dick” Heaton and his wife Alice Heaton, all of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Burial is in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer will officiate, and Rev. David Carr and Rev. Joseph Batcheldor will concelebrate.
Visitation is 2–8 p.m. Wednesday July 18, 2012, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or to the Guthrie Opportunity Center.
