Bardstown police ‘bait car’ catches pair in vehicle break-in investigation

Monday, July 23, 2012, 9 a.m. — One man was arrested and a juvenile faces charges following a city police investigation by into vehicle break-ins in neighborhoods along Templin Avenue.
On Wednesday, July 18, city police conducted a special detail in Wellington subdivision and the Limestone Boulevard area using a “bait car” and officers on bicycles in an attempt to curtail overnight thefts from parked vehicles. That evening, Evan J. Lyons, 18, of Bardstown and 17-year-old juvenile approached the bait car as Bardstown Office Jason Woodson waited inside. The two were taken into custody.
The two were carrying a backpack containing items believed to be stolen from other vehicles, including a portable DVD player, car chargers and two cell phones.
The juvenile was charged through the Court Designated Worker’s office. The juvenile’s mother was cited for a curfew violation. Lyons was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing, third-degree. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
