Monday, July 23, 2012, 2:30 p.m. — For the past 10 years, three Bardstown families have raised more than $23,200 for Hospice of Nelson County by holding a Kentucky Derby party every May. The party was affectionately dubbed the S.O.B. Derby Party, named after the families who hosted it, Stone, Osborne and Berry.
This year’s donation was made in memory of Becky Osborne’s father, Joe Kirtley, in the amount of $3,200. This year’s donation would not have been possible without the many items received for the S.O.B. raffle, t-shirt sales and private donations. This is the last year the three couples will be fundraising for Hospice. Becky Osborne said she is hoping the couple’s children will carry on the fund-raising tradition with their own Derby party.
