Paul Harold ‘Hurley’ O’Bryan, 90, formerly of New Hope
Paul Harold “Hurley” O’Bryan, 90, formerly of New Hope, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at his home in Shepherdsville. He was born Jan. 27, 1922, in New Hope. He was a former employee of Bird and Son in Bardstown and the Kentucky Highway Department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Nelson O’Bryan; a daughter, Carol Ann Miles; his parents, Ramey and Mary Lucy O’Bryan; two sisters, Mabel Beck and Elizabeth Matthews; five brothers, Joseph Benjamin, David, Raymond, Samuel and Earl O’Bryan; three half-brothers, Bernard, Earl and Claude O’Bryan; and one half-sister, Mary Helena O’Bryan.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Hinton and her husband John Hinton, both of Shepherdsville; one son, David O’Bryan of Edgewater, Fla.; three brothers, Aloysius O’Bryan, Sr. of Elizabethtown, John O’Bryan and Vincent O’Bryan, both of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Miles, Robbie Miles, Lucinda Miles Perry, Darrell Hinton, Pamela Hinton, Jacqueline Soto, Jamie Miles and Todd Miles; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Fortener will be the celebrant. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, and 1-8 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday.
