Eston Ray ‘Lew’ Lewellen, 84, Cox’s Creek
Thursday, July 26, 2012, 8:15 p.m. — Eston Ray “Lew” Lewellen, 84, of Cox’s Creek, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born April 11, 1930 in Crawfordsville, Ind. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of St. Gregory Parish. He was the owner of two former businesses, Lew’s Bakery and Lew’s Video, both in Elizabethtown. He was an avid CB enthusiast whose handle was “Pipebender.”
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Cornell Graham; his parents, John Ralph and Mable Wray Lewellen; two brothers, Red Lewellen and Harvey Lee Lewellen; and a sister, Betty Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances “Peaches” Lewellen; one daughter, Darlene Nix of Cox’s Creek; two sisters, Norma Rittinger of Indiana and Darlene Koatz of Florida; four brothers, Bob Lewellen and Byron Lewellen, both of Indiana, Kenneth Lewellen of Texas and Keith Lewellen of Bardstown;
three grandchildren, Steven Andrew Nix, Asjah Humphrey and Levi Tressler, all of Cox’s Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services with burial in St. James Cemetery in Elizabethtown. The Reverend Paul Eve will officiate. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the U.S. Army.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, and after 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012.
Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, Bardstown, KY is in charge of arrangements.
