Juvenile taken into custody after break-in, gun theft at Keene’s Depot

STAFF REPORT

Friday, July 27, 2012 — Bardstown Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile who broke into Keene’s Depot Thursday night and stole several hand guns.

Police officers responded to an active alarm at the business at 11:36 Thursday night and found a window broken and evidence someone entered the business, broke a display case and took four hand guns. Using surveillance video, owner Patrick Hayden and police identified the juvenile, who had stolen weapons from the business in May of this year.

Officers located the juvenile at the Super Inn Motel on North Third Street and questioned him about the incident. He admitted to the burglary and helped police recover the stolen handguns, which he had hidden along the railroad tracks crossing North Second Street.

After discussions with the Court Designated Worker and the juvenile’s mother, he was charged with first-degree burglary and lodged in Lincoln Village in Elizabethtown.

The investigation is continuing. Police ask anyone with information about this incident contact them at 348-6811.
