Bardstown man arrested after Friday North Third Street altercation

Monday, Jluly 30, 2012, 3:45 p.m. — Bardstown Police arrested a man after an altercation Friday evening in the area of Lanham’s Welding, 618-1/2 North Third St. in Bardstown involving a handgun.

Carl Lanham, 70, was arrested by police and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

While dispatchers were talking to the caller who reported the altercation, dispatchers heard a report that sounded like a gunshot in the background. Police arrived on scene to find a victim surrounded by individuals believed to be involved in the altercation.

During the investigation police recovered a Ruger .22 caliber revolver with one spent round. The victim reported that Carl Lanham had pointed the gun at him and he had heard several clicks. Police determined the five unspent rounds in the gun had marks on them that indicated an attempt to fire the weapon.

Lanham was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
