Retiring Bardstown city clerk’s service honored by city proclamation

July 30, 2012, 11 p.m. — Bobbe Blincoe, the city clerk of Bardstown, was honored at the start of last Tuesday’s city council meeting with presentation by Mayor Bill Sheckles of a bouquet of red roses.

After opening the meeting, Sheckles said that knowing that this was Blincoe’s final city council meeting. “She’s accused me  for the last three or four days of loading this agenda with everything I could possibly think of — and she was right,” he said with a smile that brought laughter from the council and audience.

“For all the hard work she’s done, I have a special presentation,” Sheckles said, bringing out a bouquet of red roses. After a standing ovation from the council members and audience, Sheckles presented Blincoe with a copy of a proclamation to make Tuesday, July 31, 2012, “Bobbe Blincoe Day.”

Following the reading of the proclamation, Blincoe expressed her appreciation for the honor. ‘I’ve had a wonderful time — 25 years, it has really been great,” she said.
