Louis Bowling, 55, Bardstown

Louis Bowling, 55, of Bardstown, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Dec. 6, 1956, in Bardstown and was native of New Hope. He was an electrician for Mattingly Wiring, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the first syncardia total artificial heart at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Webster Bowling, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Bowling of Bardstown; four sons, Brent Bowling and his wife Lisa Bowling, Nick Bowling and his wife Deana Bowling, Andrew Bowling and Brandon Bishop all of Bardstown; his mother, Martha Bowling of New Hope; five sisters, Martha Ann Mattingly and her husband Charles Wayne Mattingly of New Hope, Charlotte Weaver and her husband Jim Weaver of Louisville, Barbara Burgin and her husband Rodney Burgin of Chaplin, Cecily Riley and her husband Bill Riley of Lexington and Laura Corbett and her husband Michael Corbett of New Hope; two brothers; Kevin Bowling of Bardstown and Terry Bowling and his wife Carol Bowling of Chaplin; two grandchildren, Morgan and Brayden Bowling of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is noon Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope with the Rev. Ken Fortener officiating. Burial is in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, and 8-11 a.m. Thursday at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.
