Southern Nelson County can expect heavy rains, flash flooding

STAFF REPORT

Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, 6:45 p.m. — Southwestern Nelson County is under a flash flood warning until 9:35 p.m. Sunday night.

At 6:36 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service reported torrential rainfall was occurring or was imminent in the warned area. Flood-prone areas in New Haven and southern parts of the county — including Nat Rogers Road at Bull Run Creek — can be expected to flood.

Two to four inches of rain in the next 1 to 2 hours will be possible. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road.

The warning includes central Hardin and northern LaRue counties.
