Man suffers serious injuries after US31E crash in Helsinki Hill area

Monday, Aug.6. 2012, 1:45 a.m. —  One person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Helsinki Hill south of Balltown on US31E about 12:25 Monday morning. The man driving the vehicle was initially reported as trapped in his vehicle. The Bardstown Fire Department was called to rescue the victim. Once the victim was out of the vehicle, firefighters remained on scene to assist EMS.

Nelson County EMS transported the victim to Flaget Memorial Hospital to meet with an medical helicopter; however weather conditions forced the helicopter to abort its flight to Bardstown. The victim, suffering multiple trauma injuries, was take to the Flaget ER.
