Virginia Alvis Waters Maupin, 92, Louisville

Virginia Alvis Waters Maupin, 92, of Louisville, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012. She was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Nelsonville to the late Ernest Lee Waters Sr. and Margaret Omelia Gannon Waters. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Joseph Maupin; one sister, Lola Bouchard;  two brothers, Ernest Lee Waters Jr. and John Gannon Waters; two great-grandchildren, Joseph David Jones and Yallisa Reyes; and one great-great-granddaughter-in-law, Daniela Antera.

Survivors include a daughter, Joetta Jones of Norwalk, Conn.; two sons, Terry Lee Maupin and his wife Jeanette Maupin of Raleigh N.C., and Richard Anthony “Tony” Maupin and his wife Barbara Maupin of Louisville; three sisters, Betty Harrington and Vivian Crady, both of Louisville and Margaret Frazier of Arizona; and three grandchildren, Jessica Maupin, Courtney Maupin and Christopher Jones.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with Bro. Tim Underhill officiating. Burial is in the Riverview Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home.
