One injured in single-vehicle Sunday crash on Bellwood Road

Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, 2 a.m. — One person was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash Sunday evening about 6:30. The crash happened on Bellwood Road near its intersection with Brothers Lane. Nelson County EMS and the Bardstown Fire Department responded to the crash. The vehicle was on its side and had crashed into and broke a utility pole. Firefighters spent 25 minutes to extricate the male victim who was trapped in the vehicle. The victim suffered possible injuries to his lower extremities. A landing zone for a medical helicopter was established in the parking lot of First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, and the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
