Irma Dant Thomas, 89, of Loretto
Irma Dant Thomas, 89, of Loretto, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Raywick, she was a former nurse’s aide at Spring View Hospital and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Felix Thomas; her parents, Walter Simeon and Mary Evelyn Mattingly Dant; one daughter, Phillis Ann Thomas; one sister, Patsy Miller; and two brothers, Lyle and Lester Ray Dant.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Medley and her husband Danny of Loretto, and Ann Marie Ballard and her husband Greg of Holy Cross; six sons, Richard Thomas and his wife Betty Jo of Cub Run, John Dant Thomas and Steve Thomas and his wife Sandy, all of Bardstown, Keith Thomas of Shepherdsville, Bernie Thomas and his wife Tammy of Taylorsville, and Phillip Thomas and his wife Amanda of Atlanta; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with burial in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Raywick. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant assisted by the deceased’s nephew, the Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Tommy Thomas, Sammy Thomas, Robert Medley, Pat Thomas, Travis Thomas, Brian Thomas, Mickey Thomas and Tony Ballard.
