Kenneth Ray Mattingly, 69, Fairfield

Kenneth Ray Mattingly, 69, of Fairfield, diedy Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his home. He was a native of Nelson County, a retired farmer, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Little Union Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Nellie Metts Mattingly, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacky Mattingly and Harold Mattingly.

He is survived by one son, Charles “Tommy” Mattingly and his wife Jennifer, both of Bardstown; his father, Charles “Buster” Mattingly of Fairfield; four sisters, Betty Hilton and her husband David, both of Bardstown, Patsy Sanders and her husband Pete, both of Mount Washington, Marilyn Prewitt and her husband David Cody, and Kitty Essex and her husband Muriel, all of Bloomfield; three brothers, Paul Mattingly and his wife Brenda, both of Bardstown, Billy Mattingly and his wife Shirley, both of Fairfield, Mike Mattingly and his wife Dawn, both of Lexington; his granddaughter, Ellen Mattingly; his best friend, Anthony “Arthur” Holt; his caregiver, Lorie Essex Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Little Union Baptist Church with Bro. Will Sipes officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Garden with military honors.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Little Union Baptist Church.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
