Margie B. Johnson, 96, Bardstown
Margie B. Johnson, 96, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Windsor Gardens Nursing Home in Bardstown.
She was born May 25, 1916, in Athertonville. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Brentwood Antiques. She was a member of the Nelson County Homemakers, the Esther Eames Guild of China Painters and St. Joseph Parish, where she was active in the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh M. Johnson; a grandson, Robert A. Brooks; her parents, William Joseph and Mary Josephine Greenwell Boone; three brothers, Fred Boone, Joseph William Boone and Aloysius Boone; and three sisters, Sr. Aloise Boone, Edna B. “Eddie” Newcomb and Sr. Mary Regina Boone.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Ann Brooks and her husband Robert W. “Bobby Bill,” both of Hartford, Alice Lee and her husband Charles “Buddy,” both of Bardstown and Nancy Samuels and her husband Bill, both of Louisville; six sisters, Mary Jean Hagan, Cecilia Johnson and Teresa Thompson, all of New Haven, Catherine Keene of Louisville, Sr. Joseph Angela Boone of Owensboro and Josephine Dworzan of Orange, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Patricia Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Christopher Brooks, Randy Lee, Todd Lee, Mark Samuels, Rob Samuels, and Samantha Samuels; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian burial is noon Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. David Carr will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nelson County Humane Society or Cedar Lake Lodge.
