Richard Thomas ‘Hawk’ Bowman, Sr., Chaplin

Richard Thomas “Hawk” Bowman, Sr., of Chaplin, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at his home. He was a native of Jefferson Country, a Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War era, and a member of the Sunshine Chapel Baptist Church of Louisville.

He was the son of the late Charles and Hester Adcock Bowman, Sr. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Thomas Bowman, Jr.; and one sister, Wanda Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Burns Bowman; one daughter, Mary Bowman of Louisville; two sons, Shannon Bowman of Louisville, and David Bowman of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Joseph Bowman, Sr. of Chaplin and Charles Bowman, Jr. and his wife Vicki, both of Louisville; and several grandchildren also survive.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at the Houghlin Funeral Home with Bro. Edward Adcock officiating. Burial will follow in Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
