Plane that crashed Thursday moved to hanger at Bardstown airport

Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, 5:30 p.m. — The light plane that crashed Thursday was moved Friday to hangers at Samuels Field, the Bardstown-Nelson County airport.

The plane crashed on a farm in the 400 block of Wheeler Road. An investigator from the Federal Aviation Administration was at the scene of the crash Thursday.

The wings and nose gear appear to have been removed from the plane, a 1974 Cessna 172M, when it was moved Friday afternoon.

The FAA database lists the registered owner as Harry S. Spalding with a Cox’s Creek address. The pilot of the craft was uninjured in the mishap. The plane crashed about a mile and a half from the northern end of the Samuels Field runway.
