6th annual Optimist Club Toy Run is Saturday, Sept. 29th
Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, — The 6th annual Optimist Toy Run, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Bardstown, is now set for Saturday, September 29 in Bardstown. This year’s run had originally been set for July 7, but had to be postponed due to extremely high heat that day.
The Toy Run is a fund-raising event benefiting the Optimist Club’s Community Action Angel Tree, providing toys to area children who otherwise might do without.
Activities will kick off at 10 am at the Nelson County Judicial Center on East Stephen Foster Avenue with a car show sponsored by the Whiskey City Cruisers. Live music will entertain riders while they get to look over the large collection of classic cars and hot rods. 50/50 raffle tickets will also be on sale, with drawings held during the Toy Run at the mid-point and at the end.
Registration for the motorcycle run begins at 11 am and “kick stands up” will be at 12:30. The route is approximately 60 miles long, and features a stop at the famous Makers Mark Distillery, where riders can tour the facility, and even hand dip their own bottle of bourbon. The run will end at Rebecca’s Pepperoni Grill in Bardstown, where riders can enjoy the restaurant’s sports bar and brick oven pizzeria.
Entry fee for the Optimist Toy Run is $10 or a toy of equal value; the run is open to everyone, individuals or entire motorcycle clubs.
