Virginia Chesser, 97, Chaplin

Virginia Chesser, 97, of Chaplin, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Windsor Gardens in Bardstown. She was the former Virginia Elder and a native of Nelson County. She was a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing in Springfield for 16 years. She was a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She was the daughter of the late Boone V. and Violet Viola Vocook Elder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Chesser; and three brothers, Clyde Elder, Everett Elder and Cecil Elder.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie Lewis of Chaplin; one son Lee Chesser and his wife Nancy, both of Chaplin; two grandchildren, Wendy Meador and her husband Stan, and Leah Tipton and her husband Bro. Terry Tipton; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tipton, Terah Tipton and Ariana Meador.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Terry Tipton officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the funeral home.

Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
