Margaret Riley Muir, 92, Bardstown
Margaret Riley Muir, 92, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Colonial Health and Rehab. She was born in Woodlawn and was a graduate of Nazareth College. She was previously employed as a legal secretary for Fulton, Hubbard and Hubbard and as a court stenographer. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was a Deacon Emeritus. She was a charter member of the Nelson County Genealogical Roundtable, a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, the DAR and Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wakefield Muir; a stepson, John Wakefield Muir, Jr.; her parents, Edward Lee and Margie Lee Gray Riley; three brothers, Charlie Riley, Jake Riley and Buddy Riley; and three sisters, Catherine Keene, Gladys Parrott and Edith Brooks.
She was blessed with many friends who were kind enough to include her in activities when the loss of her eyesight made it impossible for her to drive. The family wishes to express their love and deepest appreciation to Bernice Hodgens, Mabel Jones and Bessie Collins who are considered members of the family. They also want to thank the staff at Colonial Health and Rehab who gave their mother such loving care.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Pollard and her husband, Merle, Jr. of Frankfort, Ind., and Mary Lee Nelson of Louisville; one brother, Randall Riley of Bowling Green (formerly of Bardstown); five grandchildren, Tina-Marie Stahl, Kris McKinzie, Brian Pollard, Robert Wakefield Nelson and Maggie Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 175 East John Rowan Blvd. In Bardstown, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Dr. Peter F. Loader will officiate.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with no visitation the morning of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ,) the Salvation Army or the donor’s favorite charity.
Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
