Hilda Thomas Cassity, 85, Bardstown

Hilda Thomas Cassity, 85, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born March 9, 1927, in Cox’s Creek. She was a 1945 graduate of Bardstown High School, a charter member of Wickland Baptist Church and was retired as the owner of Cassity’s Day Care which she operated for more than 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Owen Cassity II; one son, Samuel Coleman Cassity; and a brother, William B. Thomas.

She is survived by a son, James O. Cassity, III of Louisville;

two daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Morris of Wilson, N.C., and Ella Cassity of Bardstown; two neices; three grandchildren, Stephen Puckett of Eugene, Ore., Charlotte Lyvers of Loretto and Tiffany Greathouse of Bardstown; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Jamie Smith officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nelson County Humane Society.

Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
