William Kenneth Downs, Sr., 82, Bardstown

William Kenneth Downs, Sr., 82, of Bardstown died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was born Feb. 16, 1930m in Nelson County and was a Korean War Navy veteran. He retired as a civil engineer from the E. Randle Company in Lexington and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by two sons, James Donald “Donnie” Downs and Paul Anthony “Tony” Downs; his parents, Russell and Myrtle Greenwell Downs; and two sisters, Margaret “Pinkie” Coulter and Elgetha Pyles.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret “Midge” Clan Downs; two sons, Kenny Downs and his wife Dale, and Bo Downs and his wife Becky, all of Bardstown; one brother, Melvin Downs and his wife Mary Jo, both of Chatanooga, Tenn.; one sister, Nancy Howard of Bardstown; and two grandchildren, Michelle Downs and Danny Downs.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Holy Trinity Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Allegra will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.

Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
