Zelma Rose “Snookie” Green, 73, Bardstown
Zelma Rose “Snookie” Green, 73, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was the former Zelma Culver and was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Nelson County. She retired from Walmart after 25 years of service as a manager in the shoe department. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, the St. Joseph Bereavement Committee, the Flaget Hospital Auxiliary and worked bingo for the Stewardship Committee. Even after her passing, she gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leon and Elenora Bryan Culver; and three sisters, Faye Rogers, Beverly Rogers and Billie Joyce Thornsberry.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Allen Green of Bardstown; two daughters, Becky Anderson (Boyd Robertson) and her husband, Boyd Robertson, both of Bardstown, Shelly (Charles) Nunn and her husband Charles, both of Louisville; two brothers, Tinker Culver and his wife Mary, and Derriel Culver and his wife Marie, all of Culvertown; one sister, Vanessa O’Bryan and her husband Wart, both of Culvertown; three grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson and his wife Jolene, Alexis Nunn and Payton Nunn; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Anderson and Kayla Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. David Carr will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, and 8:30-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Thursday evening conducted by Deacon John Hamilton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center or Kosair Children’s Hospital.
