MARTIN EUGENE ‘NICK’ BICKETT

Martin Eugene “Nick” Bickett, 86, of Loretto, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He was born March 29, 1926, in Loretto. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown. He was an independent cattle truck driver, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a member of the Loretto Sportsman’s club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Eugene and Rosella Mattingly Bickett, and three brothers, Mike, Pat and Paul Thompson.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Ann Cecil Bickett; five sons, Gene Bickett and his wife Beverly, both of Campbellsville, Bill Bickett and his wife Karen, Michael Bickett and his wife Rosie and David Bickett, all of Bardstown and Kevin Bickett and his wife Dora, both of Loretto; five daughters, Judy Masterson and her husband John, both of New Hope, Brenda Peake and her husband Larry, Nell Bickett (Becky Aimesbury), and Linda Thompson and her husband Mike, all of Bardstown, Irene Downs and her husband Curtis, both of Loretto; two sisters, Jane Woodard and Rosella Batcher, both of Louisville; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. William D. Hammer and Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will concelebrate with Deacon Eddie Hutchins assisting.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
