Two injured in head-on crash Friday night on US31E near fairgrounds

Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, 1 a.m. — Two people were injured late Friday night in a head-on collision on US31E south of Bardstown near the Nelson County Fairgrounds. The Bardstown Fire Department was called to help one person who was trapped in their vehicle. Firefighters had to cut the passenger side door off one of the vehicles to allow the victim to exit the vehicle. Nelson County EMS transported a man in his 50s to Flaget Memorial Hospital complaining of chest and lower abdomen paid. A 52-year-old woman with a possible ankle fracture complaining of chest and wrist pain was also taken by EMS to the hospital. One patient at the scene refused treatment and transport by EMS. Both lanes of New Haven Road were closed for about an hour. Firefighters remained on scene to wash down the roadway after the vehicles were removed. The accident was reported at about 11:15 Friday night.
