Bardstown area man arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine

Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, 10 a.m. — A Bardstown area man was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. William “Joey” Downs, 55, was arrested Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, after the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at his Plum Run Road home.
Detectives removed more than 84 pounds of hazardous meth waste byproducts, including multiple HCL gas generators that were still putting off gas; more than a dozen inactive 2-liter bottles containing solid waste from use in one-pot meth-making labs; and a one-pot meth lab that had been cooked two days earlier. Detective also removed numerous glass meth pipes, digital scales, meth packaged for sale and a fire arm. Most of the hazardous wastes were in a detached storage building at the home.
