AG plant evacuated for fire department odor investigation
Thursday, Nov. 14, 2012, 9:15 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to a request for an odor investigation at American Greetings, 800 American Drive, at 8:11 Thursday morning. The odor investigation was requested by a union representative. Two employees left the facility during third shift, apparently sickened by fumes in the building and sought treatment at the Flaget Memorial Hospital ER. After firefighters arrived on scene, the building was evacuated and firefighters entered the building with chemical monitoring equipment. The only readings they reported was a carbon monoxide reading of 14 parts per million, which is in the acceptable range per OSHA standards. Firefighters cleared the scene at 9:06 a.m.
