Keith Kendall Avis, 67, of Bardstown

Keith Kendall Avis, 67, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Colonial Health and Rehab Center. He was born April 12, 1945, in Nelson County. He was a retired safety specialist for the Kentucky Department of Transportation, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of St. Joseph Parish and attended New Salem Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Elizabeth Parrent Avis ;and 2 sisters, Betty Vandiver and Linda Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Cook Avis; three daughters, Barbara Armstrong and Jennifer Hutchins, both of Bardstown and Elaine Richardson of LaGrange; three brothers, Donnie Avis and his wife Linda, and Gerald Avis and his wife Joyce, all of Bardstown, and Jimmy Avis of Nebraska; four sisters, Gail Case and her husband Frank, and Carol Murphy, all of Bardstown, Joyce Hauserman of Kansas, and Diane Fausak of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. David Carr will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, and 8:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund or the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
