New Haven teen charged in Aspen St. rape after police investigate

Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, 10 p.m. — A New Haven man is in jail on rape charges following an investigation by Bardstown Police of a sexual assault reported in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.

According to police, Matthew Cody Losey, 19, was caught in the act of raping a victim just after midnight Tuesday at a residence on North Aspen Street. When police responded to the scene, Losey was taken into custody and placed in the rear of a police cruiser. Losey had been vomiting, and police left him unrestrained to avoid possible asphyxiation. The door of the cruiser was left ajar to accommodate his situation. Losey escaped from the cruiser and fled on foot.

Detectives Lynn Davis and Chris Smith caught up with Losey, who made incriminating statements about the rape during an interview with police. He was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and second-degree escape. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

Bardstown Police ask anyone with information on this incident to contact them at (502) 348-6811.
