REBECCA M. PASH

Rebecca M. Pash, 96, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Windsor Gardens. She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Nelson County.

She attended St. Catherine High School in Springfield and graduated from East Denver High School in Denver, Colo. She received her BS from Nazareth College; MA and Rank I from Western Kentucky University; and for enjoyment took occasional classes at the University of Louisville.

She was a teacher in the Nelson County School System at Boston Elementary School for 27 years. She was a Head Start teacher at New Haven Elementary School for five summers, and taught adult education classes in the evening two years at Bardstown High School. She was also an active member/officer in many education organizations, including the NCEA; KEA; NEA, and KEPAC.

She belonged to many organizations in her church and in the community. In the Bardstown United Methodist Church, she was a member of the church choir for 42 years. She was a member of the Weslyn Circle, the Missionary Society, United Methodist Women, BUMS, Sunday School teacher and a former UMYF Leader. She was also a member and office holder in the Woodlawn Homemakers, DAR, The Order of Eastern Star. She was an American Red Cross volunteer for more than 40 years and a blood drive coordinator for 12 years. She was Nelson Homemaker of the Year in 1998. She was also a Kentucky Colonel, and was inducted into the Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl Jolly Pash Sr.;  four brothers, James Reardon Moore, Cornelius Frederick Moore, John Thomas Moore, and Cornelius Perry Moore; four sisters, Jenny Collins Beeler, Daisy Louise Zettler, Maudie May Wommer and Josephine Gloria Pardieu; one son-in-law, Bobbi Carole Hardin; one granddaughter, Lynn Parrot Wallace; and one great-grandson, Jared Lee Mason.

She is survived by two sons, Carl J. Pash Jr. and his wife Irene, both of San Diego, Calif., and Phillip G. Pash of Louisville; five daughters, Carolyn Parrott and her husband Bud, both of Louisville, Priscilla Pash of Bardstown, Bessie Glasscock and her husband Tom, both of Lebanon, Rebecca Pash of Tampa, Fla., and Julie Mudd and her husband Stanley, both of Bardstown; one sister, Anne (Clay) Blanchett and her husband Clay, both of Bardstown; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Bardstown United Methodist Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Scott (Chuck) Stith will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home, and 9-10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the church.
