CARLA MAE SIMS

Carla Mae Sims, 76, of Holy Cross, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born April 21, 1936, in Holy Cross. She formerly worked as a Home Health Aid and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Sims; her parents, Joseph Carl and Leo Nebvtt Howard Peake; and her great-granddaughter Mariya Maddox.

Survivors include six daughters, Judy Clark and her husband Eddie, Stacy Thompson and her husband Ray, Cindy Luckett and her husband Mike, all of Holy Cross, Gail Downs and her husband Billy, both of Greenbriar, Carlene Mattingly and her husband Arthur, and Tammy Mattingly and her husband Ronnie, all of New Hope; two sons, Alan Sims and his wife Rita, and Carl Sims and his wife JoAnn, all of Holy Cross; three sisters, Marjorie Lyvers and Lorene Clark, both of Holy Cross and Jewell Newton of Bardstown; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec, 2, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 5 p.m.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Chad Downs, Craig Downs, Arthur Mattingly, Andy Mattingly, R.J. Mattingly, Josh Sims, Leslie Sims, Aaron Mattingly. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons, J.C. Thompson and Ryan Luckett.
