Man dies after being stabbed multiple times at New Haven home
Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, 9:44 p.m. – A man who was assaulted and stabbed multiple times in the chest Thursday evening at a home in New Haven has died.
Officers with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police responded about 8 p.m. to a report of man who had been assaulted and was at an address in the 100 block of Locust Street in New Haven. A Nelson County EMS squad was only minutes away and arrived before officers. EMTs requested a medical helicopter due to the severity of the man’s injuries.
A deputy sheriff drove the ambulance from New Haven to meet the helicopter at the Nelson County Fairgrounds while EMTs worked with the victim. The Bardstown Fire Department was called to setup the landing zone for the helicopter.
The helicopter lifted off from the fairgrounds about 8:25 p.m., but instead of going to University of Louisville Hospital, it diverted to Flaget Memorial Hospital. It was there that the victim later died about 9:30 p.m.
The victim’s identity is not yet known. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police are investigating.
