CHARLES EUGENE ‘GENE’ POWELL

Charles Eugene “Gene” Powell, 74, of Bardstown, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Jan. 21, 1938, in Jefferson County and was a retired employee of Ford Motor Company. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terrance David Powell, and his parents, Charles William and Kathleen Elliott Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Higdon Powell of Bardstown;

one daughter, Suzi Winter and her husband David, both of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one son, Bill Powell and his wife Dawn, both of Fort Thomas;

one sister, Wanda Sue O’Bryan and her husband Jack, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery in Lebanon. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will be celebrant.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, the Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home.
