Betty Doris Simpson King, 77, Bardstown
Betty Doris Simpson King, 77, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Washington County. She received a Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and was retired from the Nelson County School district as a math and science teacher. She was a member of the Christian faith, the KEA and the Nelson County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death her first husband, Davis Hawkins; and her parents, James and Evelyn Noel Simpson.
She is survived by two sons, Stewart (Pam) Hawkins and his wife, Pam, both of Bardstown and Derric (Frances) Hawkins and his wife Frances, both of Louisville; two brothers, Jim Simpson of Louisville and Terry Simpson of Shepherdsville; one grandson, Justin Hawkins; a special friend and caregiver, Milt Wright; and a former student whom she thought of as a daughter, Rebecca Buzick of Bardstown.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home with burial in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin. The Rev. Tom Sparrow will officiate.
Visitation is 3:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, and 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. The pallbearers will be Glenn Spalding, Gary Goode, Jim Hundley, David Barnes, Gary Coulter and Tiger Huston.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.
