Mary Ruby Thomas, 83, Loretto
Mary Ruby Thomas, 83, of Loretto, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx.
She was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Holy Cross. She and her husband operated the old Dollar and Variety Store in Loretto and were members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. “Bee” Thomas; one son, David Thomas; her parents, Emmett and Rose Newton Hutchins; and two brothers, Jimmy Hutchins and Leo Hutchins.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Rapier and her husband Terry, and Diane Decker and her husband David, all of Louisville, and Mary Ponchio and her husband Carlos, both of Mirimar, Fla.; three sons, Keith Thomas and his wife Lisa, both of Crittenden, Kevin Thomas and his wife Marsha, both of Lexington, and Alan Thomas and his wife Sandy, both of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Ann Leake of Loretto, Rose Covert and her huband Jerry, both of Leavenworth, Wash., and Nancy Westfall and her husband Maurice, both of Nicholasville; two brothers, Arch Hutchins of Loretto and Larry Hutchins and his wife Betty, both of Springfield; 14 grandchildren, Michael {Cynthia), Laura, Jordan (Kelly), Steven, Emily, Tyler, Hannah, Carly, Rachel, Daniel, Terry, Tim, Deanna, and Charli; and four great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Christopher, Chad and Millie.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
