Police: Second suspect arrested Friday night in Huddle House assault

Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, 11:14 a.m. — Bardstown Police arrested a second suspect in the Huddle House assault Friday night during a traffic stop on John Rowan Boulevard near Dairy Queen.
According to a police department press release, Officer Jason Ellis stopped the vehicle at 11:37 p.m. While the vehicle was coming to a stop, a passenger, later identified as Deandre Douglas, 20, of Lebanon, fled the vehicle on foot. Ellis stayed with the vehicle which had several occupants and called for backup. A rear-seat passenger, Darrian Ellery, 20, of Bardstown, then fled the vehicle and ran north. Ellis pursued Ellery, catching up with him near Liquor World. Ellery continued to struggle with Ellis, breaking free and continued running. Major Ray Lewis was waiting for Ellery, caught him and took him to the ground. Ellery continued to struggle until he was subdued by police.
After Ellery was arrested, police found in his pants pocket a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. Ellery was charged with second-degree assault and complicity; fleeing or evading police, second-degree (on foot); resisting arrest; alcohol intoxication in a public place; possession of a controlled substance; and promoting contraband, first-degree. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Ellery is the second suspect arrested in connection with the Huddle House assault. Police are still trying to locate Deandre L. Douglas. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts are asked to contact Bardstown Police, (502) 348-6811.
