Mabel Catherine Hobbs Biven, 97, Bardstown
Mabel Catherine Hobbs Biven, 97, of Bardstown, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born August 22, 1915, in Washington County. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Louis Biven; one daughter, Alice Irene Biven; three sons, John Edward “Eddie” Biven, James Earl “Jimmy” Biven, and William Louis “Bud” Biven; her parents, Wood Hobbs and Fannie Reed Hobbs; four sisters; four brothers; and two grandchildren, Alexander Augustus “Alex” Biven, and Joyce Monique “Neeky” Vaughn Battle.
She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Rose Scott of Louisville, Mary Fannie Vaughn of Fayetteville, N.C., and Mabel Ann Griffin of Killeen, Texas; three sons, Vincent Mitchell Biven and Bernard Lee Biven, both of Bardstown, and Thomas Augustus Biven of London, Ont., Canada; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at St. Monica Catholic Church with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will officiate.
Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, and 9–10:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
