Weather service issues flood warning for Rolling Fork River at Boston
Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, 12:01 p.m. — Heavy weekend rains have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning for the Rolling Fork River at Boston, affecting portions of both Nelson And Hardin County.
At 10:30 Monday morning, the river was at 32 feet, three feet below flood stage. The river is expected to rise above flood stage Monday evening, cresting Tuesday afternoon near 36.9 feet.
Minor flooding is expected in low-lying areas in agricultural bottom land. The river is expected to drop below flood stage on Wednesday afternoon.
If you encounter flooding roadways, never attempt to drive through the floodwaters, especially at night when visibility is limited.
The warning will be updated Monday evening.
