Caney Fork Road home damaged in early morning house fire

fireshieldTuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, 8:40 a.m. — A home on Caney Fork Road suffered extensive damage early Tuesday morning. The Bardstown Fire Department was called out at 3:30 a.m. for a report of a possible electrical fire in the attic of a home in the 1000 block of Caney Fork.

Smoke was visible coming from the home’s attic when the first firefighters arrived. Fire crews worked inside and outside the home to make access to the attic. Firefighters used the existing attic access space to extinguish the fire, and reported the fire under control at about 4:40 a.m. With the fire knocked down, firefighters entered the attic and removed charred ceiling joists and insulation to prevent a rekindle of the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for four hours.
