Police arrest third person wanted in November Huddle House assault

Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, 2:30 p.m. — Bardstown Police have arrested the third suspect in the Nov. 24, 2012, Huddle House assault in Bardstown.

Acting on a tip, police arrested DeAndre Douglas, 20, of Lebanon at 9:55 p.m. Thursday at 113 Bard Homes apartments in Bardstown. Bardstown Police, assisted by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, entered the apartment and found Douglas hiding in a bathroom. As police escorted Douglas from the apartment he tried to break away from officers. In the apartment police found what they believed was a plastic bag containing cocaine and a 9mm handgun. The contents of the bag and the weapon will be examined at the KSP crime lab.

Police believe Douglas was a member of the Bardstown Money Gang, a group that is believed responsible for a number of assaults and robberies in the Bardstown area.

Douglas was wanted as a suspect identified in a number of local assaults and robberies. The charges include:

  • assault, second-degree and complicity to assault, second-degree in connection to the Huddle House assault. Darrian D. Ellery, 19, and Martin Barber, 23, both of Bardstown, were arrested earlier in the assault of a 62-year-old man outside the restaurant;
  • robbery, second-degree, stemming from the robbery of a Bardstown resident of $119 cash, cell phone and jacket following the Dec. 28, 2012 assault at the Bardstown Maywood Chevron. Jaylin Conner, 18, and a juvenile were also charged in that incident;
  • fleeing or evading police, related to a Jan. 5, 2013, traffic stop involving a vehicle Douglas was in. Douglas fled from police on foot; fellow Bardstown Money Gang member Darrian Ellery was arrested on a warrant related to the Huddle House assault;
  • resisting arrest;
  • trafficking cocaine, first-degree; probation violation; possession of a controlled substance, first-degree, cocaine; promoting contraband; disorderly conduct; alcohol intoxication in a public place, and a traffic violation on warrants from Marion County;

Bardstown Police are also investigation a Sept. 15, 2012, Camptown Road assault believed to involve members of the Bardstown Money Gang. Police are asking witness of that assault to contact police with information regarding that incident. Police are also investigating other incidents believed to involve members of the Bardstown Money Gang. Anyone with information on these incidents are asked to contact police, (502) 348-6811.
