Elizabeth Lorene Bartley, 91, Bardstown
Elizabeth Lorene Bartley, 91, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was the former Elizabeth Lorene Greenwell, born July 26, 1921, in Nelson County. She was a homemaker and retired from the bottling line at Heaven Hill Distilleries. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Culvertown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hugh Bartley, Sr.; two sons, Joseph Hugh Bartley, Jr. and Robert Lee Bartley; her parents, Robert Russell and Mary Helen Hutchins Greenwell; three brothers, Marvin Greenwell, Donnie Greenwell and Collins Greenwell; one sister, Esther Greenwell; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Bartley.
She is survived by four daughters, Wanda Ballard and her husband Bill, and Nancy Metcalf and her husband Maurice, all of Bardstown, Betty Ann Thomas and her husband Carl, both of Springfield and Susie Jeffries and her husband John, both of Hodgenville; four sons, Keith Bartley, Roy Bartley and his wife Brenda, Daniel Bartley and his wife Vickie, and Neale Bartley and his wife Jill, all of Bardstown; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Bartley of Bardstown; five sisters, Helen Downs and Valinda Pettit, both of Bardstown, Delores Greenwell SCN of Nazareth, Lavon Cecil of Howardstown and Ann Hall of New Haven; one brother, Happy Greenwell of Bardstown; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013,at Immaculate Conception Church in Culvertown with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. Troy Overton will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, and 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home. A prayer service is 4 p.m. Tuesday by Deacon Arnold Downs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
