James T. ‘Jim’ Mattingly Sr., 80, Bardstown
James T. “Jim” Mattingly Sr., 80, of Bardstown, died Saturday Feb. 9, 2013, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1932, in Nelson County. He retired from General Electric Appliance in 1987 and worked at the pro shop at My Old Kentucky Home State Park for 17 years. He was a member of Bardstown Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry Mattingly and Mary Susan Mattingly; one nephew, Murray David Sprigg; and one brother-in-law, William Daugherty Sprigg Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Chinn Mattingly of Bardstown; one daughter, Marcella Crenshaw of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, James T. (Angie Roberts) Mattingly Jr. of Troutman, N.C.; one sister, Louise Sprigg of Bardstown; four grandsons, Richard Brooks Crenshaw, Andrew Carey Crenshaw, James Thomas “Bo” Mattingly III, and Halston Roberts Mattingly; two nephews, William Daugherty Sprigg, and Thomas Elbert Sprigg; one niece, Marti Sprigg Rowan; and eight great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Bardstown Baptist Church, with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Dylan Mays and Rev. Phil Rowan will officiate.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to the Bardstown Baptist Church Building Fund.
