Charles William ‘Buster’ Mattingly, 96, Fairfield
Charles William “Buster” Mattingly, 96, Fairfield, died Monday Feb. 18, 2013, at Signature Health Care in Taylorsville. He was a native of Washington County, a farmer, and a member of Little Union Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Preston and Ada Baker Mattingly and was preceded in death by his wife; Nellie Metts Mattingly; three sons, Jacky Mattingly, Kenneth Mattingly and Harold Mattingly; and one grandson, Jacky Wayne Mattingly.
He is survived by four daughters, Betty Hilton and her husband David, both of Bardstown, Marilyn Prewitt and her husband Cody, both of Bloomfield, Patsy Sanders and her husband Pete, both of Mount Washington, and Kitty Essex and her husband Muriel, both of Bloomfield; three sons, Paul Mattingly and his wife Brenda, both of Bardstown, Billy Mattingly and his wife Shirley, both of Fairfield, Mike Mattingly and his wife Dawn, both of Lexington; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Little Union Baptist Church in Fairfield with Bro. Will Sipes and Bro. Steve Metts officiating. Burial is in Highland Memory Garden in Mount Washington.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the Little Union Baptist Church Building Fund.
The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
