Lt. Col. (ret.) Bruce E. Dahl, 81, Bardstown
Lt. Col. (ret.) Bruce E. Dahl, 81, of Bardstown, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Colonial Health and Rehab Center in Bardstown. He was born August 19, 1931, in Troy, N.Y. and was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, N.Y., St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army serving for 22 years in the Cold War and during the Vietnam era. After retiring, he worked at Wilson and Muir Bank as a loan officer for a number of years. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Military Society and the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric Charles and Laura Lillian Vosburgh Dahl.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Lee Roushey Dahl; one daughter, April Carter and her husband Howard, both of Burke, Va.; one son, Lance Dahl and his wife Kathryn, both of Georgetown; and four grandchildren, Michael Dahl, Caroline Dahl, Laura Carter and Philip Carter.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Bardstown United Methodist Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Stith will officiate. Full military honors will be provided at the graveside by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home, and after noon Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Nelson County or Barktown Rescue.
Clark and Houghlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
